Who are Christian and Barbara Stutzman?
Christian's wife, Barbara, was a daughter of the pioneer immigrant, Jacob Hochstetler. She and her husband lived near her parents. I will give more information about their property another time.
According to information from the Hostetler database http://www.omii.org, their daughter Elizabeth is in the Hershberger line, and daughter Magdalena is in the Hochstetler line. Daughter Veronica is in both the Hershberger and Hochstetler lines, having married Nicholas Keim.
Now, how did you like Christian Stutzman's will (text given yesterday)? We don't know how old he was and how long he had been ill, but one thing we do know, he intended for his wife to remain single if she wanted any part of their asssets. On the other hand, he did spell out details for her to be provided for and even cared for, if she did remain single. Probably we would have to compare this will with others of that time and place to see if this stipulation was common practice at that time.
The Johannes Hochstedler who witnessed the signing of the will could have been Barbara's brother, who resided with his family on a part of his father's farm.
The Christian Yoder named as executor was probably the father of his son-in-law, John Yoder.
