OBITUARY - Fannie Troyer Hershberger-Fredericksburg, Ohio

My paternal grandmother, Fannie Hershberger, daughter of Joel and Dena (Miller) Troyer, was born Jan. 9, 1881. Died June 20, 1961. Age 86 years, 6 months, 3 days.
On March 4, 1901, she was married to Eli E. Hershberger. He died June 12, 1943. Had lived in matrimony 42 years, 3 months, 8 days. To this union were born 3 sons and 5 daughters. She lived a widow 13 years, 17 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure, 3 sons and 4 daughters, (Susie) Mrs. Noah Troyer, Jacob of Apple Creek, (Nancy) Mrs. Andy Shetler, with whom she had her home, (Amanda) Mrs. Eli Troyer and Andy of Frdericksburg; David of Stuarts Draft, Va.; (Sadie) Mrs. Eli Otto of Humboldt, Ill,; 33 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, David of Fredericksburg, O.: Jacob and Melvin of Ill., and Martin of Goshen, Ind.; 3 sisters (Mary) Mrs. Cornelius Hochstetler, (Amanda) widow of Jonas Eash and (Lizzie) Mrs. Andy Miller, all of Kokomo, Ind.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by 3 sons, 1 daughter, 4 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She united the Old Order Amish church in her youth and remained faithful to the end.
Mother had hardening of the arteries and heart disease. She took sick in April with pneumonia. Was in the hospital 9 days. Her lungs cleared up but her heart was bad. The doctors said we could take her home. But one of these days her heart won't work anymore. The most he expected of her is to sit in a chair, which she did a few times. She kept getting worse. She ate very little, so the doctor wanted her back in the hospital. We took her back June 25th, where she was fed through the veins. She peacefully passed away on Thursday afternoon. She had a great desire to leave this world and be with her Lord.
Funeral services were held at Joe M. Wengerds, July 3rd. Sermons by Levi A. Miller of Kokomo, Ind. and Jacob M. Mast. She was laid to rest in the cemetery on the home farm.
We wish to thank all who helped during the time of her illness and death.
She often said, "O Lord, take me up there."
Grief and pain, she had her share,
But patiently she would pray and wait,
To meet her Lord at the Heavenly gate.
Dear mother, oh, how glad,
We did give you care,
But now our hearts are, oh, so sad,
Because we miss you everywhere.
One of the greatest loves on earth,
Is love for Jesus and so was hers.
But by experience there is another,
I know, that is love for your mother.
As we loved her, so we miss her,
In our memory she is near and dear,
Love, remembered, thought of always,
And it brings many a silent tear.
At last your wish was granted.
God took your soul, life on earth has ended,
We do not wish you back on earth.
For it was God's will, also hers.
Beloved mother, it was so hard to part,
No one knows how it breaks my heart,
But God knows what suffering you did bear,
and we trust you are in His care.
If all your suffering is turned to happiness,
Oh, mother, how happy you must be,
Over there in everlasting eternity.
A lonely daughter
Mrs. Andy Shetler
